Exploring X-Gear

Nex Based Gear

The Nex hasn’t only made transhuman powers like Ghost Detachment and X-Bonding possible. Humanity has found a way to channel it to create Nex-based gear, weapons, armor and tools with a tiny “Nex lens” called a draxel. Draxels are only about the size of a pen-tip, and are usually implanted in the hip area of a Linked Being. They focus the inherent connection that a human or Linked robot has with the Nex, and when loaded with special lines of code, can manifest Nex-based, semi-corporeal weapons, and tools seemingly out of thin air! This X-Gear travels with a person’s X-Ghost wherever they go and is always available to them as long as their draxel remains near their physical body.

This draxel and its associated gear has revolutionized personal combat in human space, and makes it possible for detached X-Ghosts to not only be effective after Ghost Traveling to an X-Bonded mate, but to fight alongside them!

Finally, draxels also work in tandem with two special satellites called “draxel relays” to facilitate instant, point to point, faster than light communication between people who aren’t X-Bonded together! Draxels are effectively the cell-phones of human space, allowing for instant communication across interstellar distances thanks to the Nex!

As with all technology, though the Draxel Communication Network is very resilient, it is not perfect. It can falter and be disrupted under certain circumtances, reminding us just how precious our connection with each other is.

With the discovery of all these transhuman powers and abilities, the problem of what happens when an X-Ghost gets hurt becomes a critical question. Learn more about Wounds and Healing and other topics below!
